Miami Marina Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

Below you will find answers to marina and boat storage questions we receive regularly. If you cannot find the answer you are looking for, please call us at 305-758-8888 and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Question: How do we get to the Marina by water?

Answer: The marina is located on the Little River Canal, south of the 79th Street Causeway, on the west side of the ICW. You must go idle speed through the canal, so it takes about 7 minutes and we're the big blue barns on your right hand side.

Question: When is Lobster Season? And when is Stone crab season?

Answer: Regular Lobster Season begins on August 6th and runs through March 31st. Be sure to have your permits and the proper measuring devices so that you don't take shorts by mistake. The little guys will only get bigger, have more baby lobsters, and make for a more delicious meal when they're big enough for the next season. Don't take shorts!

Stone crab season begins on October 15 and ends May 15th.

Question: How does dry storage work?

Answer: We try to make boating as easy as possible for all of our customers. Whenever you want to use the boat, you call us 15-20 minutes before you are set to arrive at the Marina. By the time you get here, your boat is in the water waiting for you and your guests. If our forklifts are still up and running when you return, we haul out your boat, hose off the water line, and put the boat away. If you return later in the evening, you will have a dock space available to tie up at and when we get in the next morning, we'll hose off the water line and put the boat away. Our office is open every day from 830 AM – 430 PM but you can access your boat anytime, as long as arrangements are made during office hours. We also have work racks and wash racks available to our customers in case they need to do something to the boat while it's out of the water.

Question: Where is the nearest fuel dock?

Answer: The nearest fuel dock to North Beach Marina is Pelican Harbor Fuel Dock. They have a pump out station as well. To get to the fuel dock from the marina, you go out of our canal and head north under the 79th Street Causeway. Head east as soon as you get past the bridge and the fuel dock should be on your right hand side (the north side of the street). The position is: 25° 51.6' N., 80° 09.9' W.

Question: What do we do with our trailers now that we have a place to keep our boat?

Answer: We do offer trailer storage. We have an off-site facility where the trailers are stored on a cantilever rack system. This keeps your trailer off the ground and out of the way of any harm. Our rates start at $75 +t ax and trailers are accessible with 24-hour notice.

Question: Do you wash or flush the boats when they return?

Answer: The Marina does not wash the boats and is not responsible for flushing the boats, but our staff is always happy to help if you're unsure of how to do something. There is a service at the marina called Dee's Boat Care that provides boat washing and maintenance to our customers. They offer unlimited wash plans that ensure that your boat is clean and ready to go whenever you want to use it. They also flush the boat and wash it upon your return.

Question: What lives in the canal behind the marina?

Answer: We have an abundance of wildlife right under our docks. Our canal is home to manatees, tarpon, snook, mullet, jacks, little black tip sharks, and there has even been a crocodile siting! We have baby red-eared slider turtles and a variety of native Florida birds.
